FOOD BIG BAG

What is a Food Grade Big Bag?

A Food Grade Big Bag (also known as a Food Grade FIBC) is a specialized packaging solution designed for the transport and storage of food products in a hygienic environment, completely free from the risk of external contaminants (dust, pests, loose threads, etc.).

The difference between a standard Big Bag and a Food Grade Big Bag is not just the materials used, but the extreme precision and cleanliness of the production process.

Key Features of Food Grade Big Bags

1. Production Environment (Clean Room)

These bags are not manufactured in standard factory settings. They are produced in "Clean Rooms"—sterile areas with air filtration systems where humidity and dust are strictly controlled. Production staff must wear specialized sterile clothing, masks, gloves, and hairnets.

2. 100% Virgin Raw Materials

Recycled plastics are never used in Food Grade Big Bags. The fabric, sewing threads, and lifting loops are made from 100% virgin polypropylene. Additionally, all components (dyes, UV additives, etc.) must have food-contact safety certifications.

3. Foreign Matter Control

  • Ultrasonic and Heat Cutting: To prevent fraying (loose threads) at the edges, the fabric is cut using laser or ultrasonic methods. This eliminates the risk of plastic threads falling into the food.

  • Metal Detector and Vacuuming: Before packaging, every bag is vacuumed to remove any dust or debris and passed through a metal detector to ensure no needles or metal fragments are present.

4. Specific Certifications

Food Grade Big Bag manufacturers must hold globally recognized certifications, such as:

  • BRCGS (Packaging): The highest global standard for food safety.

  • FDA: Compliance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

  • ISO 22000: Food Safety Management System.

Common Applications

They are used for all sensitive products that carry a food safety risk:

  • Powders: Sugar, flour, starch, milk powder, spices, cocoa.

  • Granular Products: Legumes, hazelnuts, peanuts, coffee beans, rice.

  • Sensitive Substances: Pharmaceutical raw materials and food additives.
